April 2027: your statement becomes readable

30 September 2026 ยท 2 minute read

Buried in the Reserve Bank's card payment reforms is the sleeper: from April 2027, providers must issue standardised merchant statements, and card networks and large acquirers must publish their fees.

What changes

Every statement, same layout, same labels. Your costs stated so they can be compared. Fee schedules on the public record instead of in a quote email.

Why it matters

Today, comparing providers means decoding two different statement formats and hoping you've caught every line item. From April 2027 it's side-by-side. Switching stops being a leap of faith.

The smart move before then: know your current effective rate now. When the standardised statements land, you'll see instantly whether your provider's version of your costs matches the number you've been tracking โ€” and you'll have a before-and-after.

Our part

FeeFox will read the standardised format the day it exists. Between now and then, the front-page checker and the two-number method keep you current.
